2019 was a big year for Telerik Academy. We’ve launched several brand-new programs, moved to an amazing building of our own, grew the team with 33% and greatly expanded Telerik Academy School’s training centers around the country.
The Academy has also celebrated its 10th Anniversary – a decade in which we’ve touched the lives of 115,000 + kids and professionals in Bulgaria. As we wave 2019 goodbye, we’re taking a moment to reflect on some of the major milestones we’ve achieved this year. So, without further ado…
Organized 9 career jumpstart programs
In 2019, we kickstarted 9 career jumpstart programs – Telerik Academy Alpha, which gave a successful career start to hundreds of alumni. And we’re not stopping here - 2 additional programs will launch in January.
The statistics show that 100% of our alumni start working within 2-6 months of graduation, powering the success of many leading technology companies such as ScaleFocus, Experian, Chaos Group, Progress, and others. We’re a partner to all – students and companies. Because their success is our success.
Introduced the 1st Alpha program for QAs
This year we’ve launched our first comprehensive Telerik Academy Alpha QA program. In a period of 6 months, our alumni learn the best QA practices and get hands-on experience with the most popular software testing tools.
Thus, we’re equipping the aspiring QAs with the required technical and soft skills to kickstart a rewarding career in IT.
Started the 1st hands-on UX and UI program
Creating great User Experience (UX) and crafting outstanding User Interface (UI) are among the most highly sought-after design skills. Meanwhile, there’s a shortage of talents possessing these skills.
To address the gap, we started the first-ever complete UX and UI design program in Bulgaria - more than 35 professionals completed the intensive training in October. Now, we’re organizing a second edition of the UX/UI Design program with the assistance of seasoned professionals from leading tech companies and digital agencies such as: VMware, Progress, HYPE and Studio X Creative.
Launched the 1st Upskill Digital Marketing program
In 2019, we’ve jumpstarted the first immersive Digital Marketing program, helping participants to boost their skillset, become strategic marketing thinkers, and transform their professional lives.
Targeted at marketing professionals with previous experience, the program helped our alumni master key disciplines like marketing strategy and planning, content marketing, SEO and web analytics, to name a few.
Launched 102 programming cohorts for kids across 25 cities
This October Telerik Academy School, the largest free IT initiative for students between 1st and 12th grade, launched 102 programming cohorts in 25 Bulgarian cities.
We’re happy to be able to teach children how to code and create technologies from a young age, inspiring a life-long passion for learning. The curriculum touches upon various intriguing topics such as digital science, competitive programming, game development and web development. Kids from large and small cities alike in Bulgaria can participate in the programs and get access to invaluable knowledge and experience.
Moved to a building of our own
Our team grew significantly – with 10 new professionals who joined our ranks in 2019 alone. While expanding the team, we also moved to a separate building within Campus X, with 5 beautiful training and study rooms and a brand new, cool-looking office. If you’re passing by Alexander Malinov Blvd., we bet there is no chance to miss out the building and our iconic “A” sign on the facade.
Celebrated our 10th Anniversary
On November 1, Telerik Academy marked a major milestone in its evolution – celebrated its 10th Anniversary.
In the past decade, we’ve been working hard to fulfill our mission – connect Bulgarian talent, organizations and training resources to advance personal development, professional careers and grow the IT ecosystem. And we’ve done just that – changing people’s lives and powering tech businesses. In fact, 100% of our graduates work in tech and 97% live in Bulgaria. Meanwhile, Telerik Academy’s partner program has set on a mission to help businesses grow in a predictable and sustainable way.
To celebrate our shared success, we brought alumni, partners, and friends together at our birthday party. Long story short – we danced, talked and had a great time!

What a year (a decade)! Before we wrap up 2019, we want to share that you are the driving force behind Telerik Academy! Our alumni, partners, and friends are the ones that continuously inspire us to evolve, excel and raise the bar in tech education. And the best is yet to come!
Borislav Borisov has obtained a Master’s degree in International Project Management and Financial Management. After graduation, he worked as a Senior Bank Officer and had plenty of opportunities to further advance his career. Yet, Borislav felt that this was not his true calling.
