From creating buildings to developing software programs - that's the career change that Asya Lobutova made when she switched from a structural engineer to a Java developer!

A change that took her just 6 months to complete.

How was this possible? With the support of the "right partner ", as Asya described, Telerik Academy Alpha Java

Her decision to join our 6-months program led her to our partner TINQIN, a software company she started working for soon after graduating from Alpha Java

"Telerik Academy was there at every step of the way," shared Asya, who worked as a structural engineer for the last five years before joining the Alpha program.

Asya is not an exception. Sometimes we study at university for a couple of years, take our master's degree and start a job within that professional field. And one day, we decide to go on another path.

And you know what? That's okay.

You can always start over, no matter your age, current profession, or university degree. The career path you decide to follow can change over time. Nowadays, more and more people are switching careers - just like Asya did in Alpha Java with the help and support of our experienced team of trainers, mentors, and coaches.

This is her story and if you want to write your own, join Alpha - the fastest path to a successful IT career.

Hi, Asya! Let's take you a little back - you graduated from Alpha Java in November 2021 and received a job offer in the same month. How did Telerik Academy help you jumpstart your IT career at TINQIN?

Telerik Academy was there at every step of the way – teaching us the basics of programming and helping us develop our soft skills, be prepared for the hiring process afterwards, and how to find the right company for us. Meeting with Telerik Academy's partner companies, including TINQIN, was an essential aspect of the Alpha program. We also got the chance to discuss the technical decisions of the final project we made with developers from the company.

How did your life change after graduating from Telerik Academy?

Changing my professional path was, to say the least, not an easy decision. There are several ways to do it, but now, looking back, I can confidently say that I chose the right partner for that journey. Telerik Academy is not only building good junior developers but also creating a community. To have the support of my mentors and colleagues from the cohort throughout the way and afterwards was quite valuable.

Can you tell us a little more about TINQIN and your job there? What are your key responsibilities, and what excites you most about your work?

Currently, I'm part of the team developing a platform to meet the needs of one of the biggest French companies for facilitating exchanges between beneficiaries, healthcare establishments, and health insurance organizations.

It's incredible to be part of a team of true professionals that like what they do and truly care about the quality of their work. Furthermore, to have the chance to develop something from scratch, be fully involved in the development process, use the latest technologies, and have support from experienced developers, is a great opportunity.

What makes TINQIN stand out from other companies as an employer?

The company's onboarding program and employee training and development policy were most important to me as a junior developer looking for her first job. Now, being part of TINQIN for over a year and a half, I can positively say that I have the chance to continue learning and evolving with the support of great mentors by my side, challenging tasks, and a clear growth path.

What are the most valuable skills and knowledge gained at Telerik Academy Alpha that you continue to use to date at your work?

I must say breaking down the big problem into smaller parts and doing your best to keep things simple. And I genuinely believe in the importance of the second one, especially when you're at the start of your professional career as a developer and you're tempted to explore all possibilities.

What advice would you give to our new Telerik Academy students?

Keep pushing forward no matter how hard it gets. I know there might come a time when you feel a bit overwhelmed but focus on the current step and trust the process. Be curious, and don't forget to enjoy the journey.
