Successful careers no longer have to be a straight line. Many of Telerik Academy‘s alumni come from various academic and professional backgrounds with little to no previous programming experience and manage to seamlessly switch careers, landing an exciting job in IT.
Iliyan Gogov’s professional journey is one of many such stories. After graduating from the Technical University in Sofia with a major in Mechanical Engineering, he decided to pursue a different career path and dived into the business world and sales. Realizing his work was no longer a positive and challenging experience and driven by his passion for technology, Iliyan decided to make a change. He joined Telerik Academy Alpha to become a sought-after software developer.
Launching a new career
Iliyan shares the success of our alumni attracted him most to the program and however high his expectations were at the start, they were met and surpassed by the end of the training.
“Telerik Academy helped me tremendously to kick-start my IT career. We had a solid technical and soft skills training, the latter focused on the development of our interpersonal skills such as teamwork, how to apply for a job and approach an interview. The Academy also helped me start working right after my graduation at a partner company.”
During his training, Iliyan learned to quickly adopt to new technologies and programming languages and build fully functional applications. He expanded his skill set with a sound knowledge of both backend and frontend technologies, databases, creating high quality code, proprietary design, and unit testing.

After graduating from Telerik Academy Alpha, Iliyan Gogov joined Paysafe Group as a Junior Software Engineer and finally began to find value and satisfaction in his job. Currently, he works on the development of the public-facing part of an application for financial transfers.
